Don't forget about your trim.

Are you repainting rooms in your home? So often we see the trim being missed in remodeling projects. Repainting your trim makes a big statement. It keep the lines in the room fresh and clean.  Trim is kind of like the jewelry to your walls. If your trim is stained, consider giving it a fresh stain and keep the wood look in your home.

Look at your color palate in your home. If your home's color values are similar to each other pick a trim color that will contrast them all well.  Whites & Grey's are good neutral colors that may work well with the other colors throughout your home.

If you want to take things to the next level consider having your old trim replaced with a wider profile. Wider trim is in style right now. And don't forget to donate your old trim to a rebuilding center in your area or reuse it for a future project.

We love this warm look of teal, grey & white's:

Updating Your Front Porch

Making a beautiful entrance to your home is great way to update your home with minimal cost. There are several things you can try to spruce things up on your front porch. Here are some ideas for basic ways to add some sparkle to your entry:

Update Your Digits: Make sure your guests & postal carriers can see your address numbers. Try updating your numbers with a new modern look like these. Etsy.com has modern house numbers. We love these bronze modern numbers on salvaged wood. They also come in nickel, black & metal.

Paint Your Front Door: Cleaning up your front porch and repainting your front door will make a big statement. You don't need to choose a vibrant color to change things up on your front porch. Choose a color that contrasts with your trim and your siding. Pick a color that feels welcoming but also "pops." Before you begin, clean your door really well and use a good primer. Remember to cover the ground and tape off edges; you just want the paint where it belongs. Ask your local paint shop for a good recommendation on the type of paint to use and what kind of brushes to buy.

Hang a Wreath: Adding a seasonal wreath to your front door is an easy way to change up your look. Don't go over board. Stick with the style of your home and choose a wreath that fits the season. Don't damage your door to get the look. PotteryBarn.com makes several over the door wreath hangers.

Add Some Life: Add life to your front porch using fun pots & plants. You can change the look throughout the year depending on the season and type of plants you decide to use. Don't go over the top with pots, remember less is more. Try using several heights and choose colors that contrast with the rest of your entry.

Fall Decor Tip: Use pumpkins and gourds to mix in with your planted pots. They will look great from October through the holidays. Watch for fun colors and textures that match your style.

Oktoberfest - Mt. Angel

Looking for something to do this weekend? Put on your Lederhosen and travel to Mount Angel, Oregon. Oktoberfest 2014 is just around the corner and visitors travel to the Willamette Valley town each year to celebrate the harvest, Bavarian style! The festival dates are September 11 - 14.  For more information about tickets and schedule of events, visit their website http://www.oktoberfest.org/  Don't miss the car show or the wiener dog race!

Fall Colors & Owls

The weather was perfect today! The crisp air was so refreshing throughout the day. We are starting to notice that Fall is coming! Leaves are starting to turn to vibrant colors and fall to the ground. Yards are becoming greener. The sun is setting earlier.

We think it is time to get out the fall decorations. What do you think? Sunflowers & Owls might be making an appearance in our homes this week. Maybe a candle or two?

We love these handmade owls from etsy.com
